Video Center / Comprehensive Report China officially implemented the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Promoting National Unity and Progress" on July 1, raising concerns that this law explicitly includes "long-arm jurisdiction and cross-border repression" in its regulations. This law not only applies to Chinese citizens, but also to Taiwanese citizens and even foreigners who may be deemed to have violated the law. The "2026 China Threat Report – China's Legal Warfare Against Taiwan" security forum, jointly organized by the Taiwan Security Association, the Taiwan Independence and Nation-Building Alliance, Black Bear Academy, and the Taiwan Youth Legal Association, took place on July 12. Presidential Office advisor Lin Chih-chieh pointed out that the National Unity and Progress Promotion Act prohibits the use of language that defames or denigrates Chinese characters.
