Nomfundo Xavula performs "Umlamb'Ophilisayo " (16.4.2013)
Xaluva was born and raised by her grandparents in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. "It feels weird when people ask me about my siblings because my uncles and my aunts became my siblings," she says. Xaluva attended boarding school throughout her school life and worked hard to succeed. "It helped to be a boarder because it taught me to be disciplined". "The other benefits were that I had access to a piano and I was part of the school choir, which I really enjoyed and which nurtured my love for the piano," Xaluva says. She was determined to study jazz so she enrolled for a BA in jazz at the University of Cape Town in 2003.
