The major feature of the park is Bryce Canyon which is actually not a canyon but a collection of giant natural amphitheaters along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to geological structures called hoodoos, formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rock. The red, orange, and white colors of the rocks provide distinctive views for park visitors. Bryce Canyon National Park is much smaller and sits at a much higher elevation than nearby Zion National Park. The rim at Bryce varies from 8,000 to 9,000 feet. The Queen's Garden Trail is the least difficult of the trails descending from the rim into the Bryce Canyon Amphitheater. Hike this out-and-back trail to the Queen Victoria hoodoo at the end of to experience Wall Street and enjoy the splendor of hiking amongst the hoodoos. This trail is commonly combined with the Indian Navajo Loop to create a 2.9 mile round trip trail where you can descend at Sunrise Point and ascend at Sunset Point. You can take the Indian Navajo Trail back up to the Rim Trail. National Parks are experiencing a resurgence in visitation, reaching record highs with millions of visitors seeking outdoor recreation.
