Rhys Wilson - Going West

An R&B, funk & world music odyssey Since the mid 70s, Chris Wilson has been a long established legend on the Australian music frontier. He was a founding member in Buster Brown, playing keyboards with them at Sunbury in 1974 and 1975. He has also later played and toured with Renee Geyer on guitar and keyboards, Broderick Smith for decades, including Broderick Smith’s Big Combo, the Giants and has worked and collaborated with music journeymen such as Mark Gillespie and Wayne Burt, through running his own recording studio since 1986. He has been a continuing constant fixture on the live music scene in and around Melbourne and Sydney for many years. David Rhys Jenkins has been playing drums and some guitar, in live music situations, since the late 1970s, beginning in original bands in the Warrandyte and Eltham area, evolving around the band Reuben Tice. During the eighties and nineties, he played in many original bands such as Citizen Kane, the Icebreakers, Venus Envy and Trojan Bullet. He also spent time playing with the Soulminers. In July 1999, David performed at Hamer Hall, Melbourne, with First Nation indigenous artists, presenting the Making Tracks Songlines album concert, an album on which he played with indigenous musicians. During the 2000s, he played in cover bands, including Jackhammer for fifteen years and released and launched a solo album at the Espy, with his original band The Trip in 2001, citing influences of Led Zeppelin, The Tea Party and Jeff Buckley.
