Hiking to a Scenic Isolated Beach on Lake Prespa | One of Europe's Oldest & Most Beautiful Lakes

Join Craig ‪@craigzievis2074‬ I as we hike off the beaten path to a hidden, secluded beach on the shores of Lake Prespa, one of the most breathtaking and untouched natural wonders in the Albania and in the Balkans. Tucked away where Albania, North Macedonia, and Greece meet, this ancient lake is a true hidden gem, and in this video we take a scenic trek to an isolated stretch of shoreline. Lake Prespa is one of the oldest lakes in the world, dating back an incredible 2 to 4 million years. Sitting at 853 meters (2,799 ft), it's the highest tectonic lake in the Balkans and part of the UNESCO Ohrid-Prespa Transboundary Biosphere Reserve. This remote paradise is home to over 2,000 species of fish, birds, mammals, and plants, including nine native fish species found nowhere else on Earth. But the real star of Prespa is the rare and magnificent Dalmatian Pelican, one of the largest flying birds in the world. Lake Prespa hosts the single largest breeding colony of Dalmatian Pelicans on the planet, around 1,400 breeding pairs, alongside pygmy cormorants, ferruginous ducks, and countless other species that make this an Important Bird Area and a birdwatcher's dream. From crystal-clear mountain water and dramatic scenery to total peace and solitude on our own private beach, this hike was one of the most unforgettable adventures of our trip.
