Alla scoperta del Lago del Salto: il fiordo nascosto del Lazio

Welcome back to the channel and in this new video, today we're taking you on a discovery of Lago del Salto, located in the province of Rieti in a pristine natural setting. It's the largest artificial lake in Lazio. Created in 1940 by damming the Salto River with the imposing Salto Dam, this body of water resembles a Scandinavian fjord, characterized by deep blue waters that meander between rugged coastlines and dense chestnut and oak forests. The lake's formation submerged the deep valley and several small towns, which were then partially rebuilt on the lake's shores and positioned higher than the maximum flood level: Borgo San Pietro, Fiumata, Teglieto, and Sant'Ippolito. Today, Lago del Salto is a nature reserve and tourist destination. Characterized by an elongated, sinuous shape reminiscent of a fjord, the lake has become a hotspot for water sports, nature tourism, and seaside resorts. We parked our camper at the Il Ghiro camper area, surrounded by greenery and very close to the lake and Borgo San Pietro. The area has electricity, toilets, showers, loading and unloading, and a barbecue area, and is run by the kind, helpful, and welcoming people of Max and his wife Tiziana. For a restaurant, we recommend Trattoria da Edoardo, which offers products from the Cicolano and Rieti areas. It's an excellent place to eat, highly recommended. Enjoy the view, and remember to like and subscribe to the channel, helping us grow.
