RARE MTB GLIDER: 1 of 6 built! Barrie Transit 65400 (November 23, 2011)

Enjoy a ride aboard Barrie Transit 65400, a 2000 MTB "Glider", on Route 35 Saunders. Video from the Allandale Recreation Centre Terminal to Saunders Rd at Lockhart Rd. Powered by a Detroit Diesel 6V92TA engine and Allison transmission. Six Gliders were known to be produced: 1 for Pembroke Transit, 2 for Pickering Transit, 2 for Stratford Transit, and 1 for Barrie Transit. The Barrie Transit unit was the last one active and retired in 2012. Using components from a transit agency's 30-foot Orion I, Mississauga Truck & Bus was able to construct a "new" 35-foot bus with an Orion V shell (glider). Components taken from the Orion I included engine, transmission, and axles. In addition, other components from the Orion I such as windows, doors, and seats were sometimes used. Thanks for watching!
