A fantastic turn of events in the case of a gigolo who targeted wealthy women and swindled them out of millions of rubles: the very victim who had sought and succeeded in pursuing criminal charges suddenly joined forces with the gigolo. To recap, a businesswoman from Pavlovo, a married woman and mother of three, met Alexey Surovegin. He introduced himself as a developer for a shopping center in the Moscow region. They began an affair, and then, under various pretexts, he began extorting money from her, swindling her out of approximately 7 million rubles. It later emerged she wasn't alone—there were about a dozen victims from different cities. The defrauded women banded together, hired a lawyer, and, since the police refused to open a criminal case, they sought publicity in the press, and after our story aired, a criminal case was opened. But the gigolo began playing out a new, cunning scheme and staging. Alexey Surovegin communicates with his victims primarily through instant messaging—text, voice, and video messages. And so, he sends a message to his victim from Pavlovo, claiming he's been summoned, supposedly for questioning, by the Nizhny Novgorod police, and this is what they've allegedly done to him. #nizhnynovgorod
