Fisker Ocean cowl water leak analysis and DIY fix of central cowl fastener leak
This video does an in depth evaluation of the water drainage pathways under the cowl of a Fisker Ocean. It turns out the lateral drain holes in cowl land on a lip of metal just outside of the existing large cowl drain in body. As a result, the water gets partially sent to side and can then flow down the fender support rail to the front bumper area. Another unexpected finding was that the three fasteners from the front of cowl to body leak directly into front "engine" compartment. There is also some missing weather stripping in the same area. The fastener leak is fixed with RTC silicone and the missing weather stripping fixed by placing additional weather stripping to defects. My previous barrier to prevent water flowing forward from cowl on frame rail seems to work well, but some have suggested placing a drain tube in cowl drain hole to divert water into body drain.
