Dodong Gigil's Baon for America | DPE Week 5 and One More Weekend With #PamilyaBedad 🇵🇭🇺🇸

Week 5 of my Professional Education classes happened to fall on the same weekend as my brother’s send-off before heading back to America for another school year. I initially considered skipping the family trip again, just like I did when they went around the south last weekend. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that some moments are worth making time for. As I weighed my responsibilities this week, I realized that with God’s grace and the support of my family, I could show up for both my studies and the people I love. The day didn’t exactly go according to plan. I woke up late for my first class and ended up missing the Simala itinerary completely so I could catch up and attend my online sessions. I was disappointed to miss that part of the trip, especially since it was something I had hoped to join. We arrived at the beach just in time for my 2nd class, my last class of the day, which started with an exam. I was praying so hard for the internet to cooperate while the kids enjoyed the beach with family and my husband who took care of Anyana. Then, three minutes before 4:30 PM, class ended. I quickly wrapped up, and by 5:00 PM, the family was ready to go. They had simply been waiting for me. What followed was another wonderful afternoon spent with Pamilya Bedad. As much as I appreciate the flexibility of online classes, I still feel most comfortable attending them from home except for days like today. Because today reminded me that being present sometimes matters more than routine and comfort. Being there meant sending my brother off with love, laughter, and one more memory together before he returns to America for another school year. I know these trips, family gatherings, and ordinary moments become part of his precious baon as he goes back to make a difference outside the Philippines. Safe travels, Dong.
