Troy Was Many Cities - What the Ruins Revealed

Troy exists. The hill of Hisarlik in northwestern Turkey contains nine distinct layers of occupation spanning 3000 BCE to 500 CE. The layer most archaeologists currently identify as the candidate for Homeric Troy - Troy VIIa - shows evidence of fire, bronze arrowheads, and unburied human remains, dated to approximately 1180 BCE. This video documents what the excavations of Schliemann, Blegen, and Korfmann actually found, what the Hittite archives at Bogazköy record about a city called Wilusa and a people called Ahhiyawa, and what the physical scale of Troy VIIa implies about the war that Homer described four centuries later. The archaeology does not refute Homer.
