Dron con explosivos se estrelló en campo petrolero de Caño Limón, Arauca: hubo detonación controlada

A homemade drone, difficult to detect and loaded with explosives, recently entered the Caño Limón oil complex in Arauca and crashed into a storage area without detonating its payload, averting a potentially major emergency. Sources confirmed to Blu Radio that several hypotheses remain open regarding the incident and that, for now, the true objective of the attack is unclear. Although the drone impacted the oil field area, a military unit with a permanent troop presence is located nearby, so authorities are not ruling out the possibility that the intended target was that unit rather than the oil industry infrastructure. The same sources indicated that, after the discovery of the device, personnel from the Caño Limón complex requested support from the National Army. Members of the Marte Group, specialized in the handling and destruction of explosives, carried out a controlled detonation to neutralize the risk. The drone was homemade and carried an explosive charge that failed to detonate because the device crashed before completing its flight path. The incident occurred in an area with a tank capable of storing approximately 100,000 barrels of oil and where roughly 200 workers are employed, highlighting the high risk involved.
