The Temple of Solomon (Made and Dedicated)

[Intro] [Verse 1] David dreamed of a temple to rise on the hill But God said to Solomon, "This is your will" Gather cedar from Lebanon, silver and gold Seven years in the building a wonder untold The greatest of kingdoms had answered the call A covenant people would raise up God's hall [Verse 2] The stones were all cut far from Jerusalem's ground No hammer of iron would ever ring sound Each pillar prefitted and fashioned away So the temple grounds stayed hallowed and silent each day What reverence was carved in the choosing of place Even silence itself was an offering of grace [Pre-Chorus] From Tyre came a craftsman, his mother of Dan His hands shaped the bronze what a God-gifted man Born outside of Israel but chosen with care His skill was a gift that only heaven would share God calls every talent no vessel too small When we offer our gifts, He is found in them all [Chorus] Rise up, holy temple, rise up to the sky A house for His name where His glory won't die Cut in silence, built with reverence, cedar, gold, and stone The God of all Israel will make this His throne Rise up let the nations behold and declare The Lord of all heaven has chosen to dwell there [Verse 3] Twelve oxen of bronze bore the basin on high Three turned to each quarter beneath the vast sky The tribes of God's people in metal arrayed Each ox a foundation His covenant displayed As Israel stood unified under one name So we who are gathered to worship the same [Verse 4] The pillars named Jachin and Boaz stood tall The lampstands of gold lit the innermost hall Each doorpost engraved and each curtain in place Every carving a whisper of infinite grace They carried the ark to its holiest space Where God and His people would meet face to face [Bridge] Then Solomon stood at the altar on high He spread out his hands underneath the wide sky: "Lord, hear from Your dwelling when Israel cries When we turn from our sins and we lift up our eyes When heaven is shut and the rains cease to fall When famine or pestilence answers the call When Your people repent and they bow down in shame Forgive us and heal us we call on Your name" [Pre-Chorus 2] He prayed for the battle, the captive, the lost That no soul would perish whatever the cost In every condition that life could demand He asked God to listen and reach out His hand As long as we turn back with hearts that are true The God of the temple will carry us through [Final Bridge] Then fire fell down from the heavens above The smoke filled the temple with holiness and love The priests couldn't enter His glory was there All Israel fell to their knees in their prayer The cloud of the Lord overwhelmed every man They bowed down and worshipped as only God's people can He accepted the offering, He heard every prayer The God of the covenant dwelling right there Rise up, holy temple, rise up to the sky A house for His name where His glory won't die Cut in silence, built with reverence, cedar, gold, and stone The God of all Israel will make this His throne Rise up let the nations behold and declare The Lord of all heaven has chosen to dwell there [Outro Verse] So let every heart be a temple prepared A place set apart where His covenant is shared
