Film director Mrinal Sen talks about the lyricism in his films and how he met Mithun Chakraborty, he says, "I am glad that you found lyricism in it perhaps it is and the whole climate where I did the shooting and maybe lyricism could surface on the faces of the people whom I ran into every time I was shooting it was in a Santol Village, the village of the tribals and that was it I didn't make any special effort to inculcate lyricism into it. It was very much dear perhaps I couldn't escape it that could be one reason and it was possibly also there in Bhuvansham which was made years earlier a kind of lyricism doesn't belong only to the landscapes alone it is in the behavior patterns of the people in their relationships which I also try to bring in my later films where I used the human beings, the faces but I found a kind of lyrical aspect and a kind of relationship that I tried to build up about Mithun Chakraborty, he was not known at that time, I saw him from a distance in Pune in a convocation when he was to get a Diploma so we were all invited as a guest there and we were sitting there and I remember that I was sitting in between one Al Kazi and Rishikesh Mukherjee".
