El Faro de Mara Torres | Travis Birds | 05/10/2022

Travis Birds is his stage name; he reserves his given name only for tax purposes and his doctor's. He chose it when he was 19, going through times of great uncertainty and the world, as he explained, fell into darkness: "I couldn't find my place anywhere, but I had a turning point that disconnected me from the world, even from prejudice and fear. One day I came home, grabbed my aunt's old guitar, started banging on it, with the music playing very loudly in the background to make it seem like I was playing well, and I had a magical moment. It was a complete connection with the present, and I knew there was something there that had to do with me." His first guitar was a gift from his twin sister, and the first chords he played were from the song "Estadio Azteca" by Calamaro, a track that inspired him to create his first album, "La chica del tren." Her big break came with the composition of 'Coyotes', the main theme song for the series 'El embarcadero', which came to her by chance while she was selling Thermomix: "I didn't like the job at all, I was a disaster, but at the only demo I did, I met a colleague who was connected to the right people in the music world," she said. She now has two albums on the market, 'Año X' and 'La costa de los mosquitos', and is finalizing the details of the third, which already has a title: "Nobody knows yet, but I'm going to tell you. It's called 'Perro deseo'," she excitedly told Mara Torres. A name that, of course, has its reason for being: "All the songs talk about desire and it seemed like a suggestive title because it captures that part of the animal instinct."
