Making Swords which are also Urns
The biggest honour of my career, this set of swords are actually urns which will hold the remains of a family's patriarch - one for each of his three children. The pommels unbolt to reveal a hollow chamber inside the hilt. All of the bronze fittings were hand-poured from bronze I alloyed myself. Each of the three pommels, as the door to the vessels, has been inlaid with emeralds - the birthstone of the father. The three crossguards have been engraved with a symbol of breath, and inlaid with the birthstone of each of his three children. Making just one of these would have been a challenge, but to make three taxed me for everything I've got. I am extremely proud of how they came together, and will be honoured to the end of my days to have been chosen for this commission.
