Ulgham Grange Level Crossing, Northumberland

Date filmed: Tuesday the 14th of May 2024 Video filmed at 13:36 Route: East Coast Main Line (ECML) Widdrington (WDD) is the closest station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: Ulgham Grange, Morpeth (NE61 3AX) A level crossing found near the village of Ulgham (pronounced 'Uffham') near the coast in Northumberland, just around the corner from Widdrington Station. All four barriers and one of the alarms seemed relatively new at the time of filming, here at this otherwise fairly standard crossing. It is one of many on the East Coast Main Line up this far in England, and one of a total of nine CCTV level crossings controlled from Morpeth alone. These in this area are rather efficient, and you can see the train arrive in good time (less than two minutes after activating) as the main lowering is un-cut.
