Living in Istanbul on a Low Budget
In today's video we visit with two Expats living in Istanbul Turkey on a low budget of $700 per month. The city of Istanbul is a bustling city of 17,000,000, today we visit with Sam and Fadwa who have fallen in love with West Istanbul, a quieter suburb that offers a great quality of life. The average US Retiree on Social Security receives $1,550 a month, and a couple on Social Security receives over $2,500 a month. Sam and Fadwa spend around $400 on utilities, insurance, and groceries and rent for a decent small home can be found under $300. Sam and Fadwa own their home and spend less than $700.00 a month. A US Expat living on Social Security can expect a great standard of living in Turkey when compared to the living costs in the US. Currently Turkey is a tremendous value for Expats with income from abroad, the exchange rate when this vide was made was 13.5 Turkish Lira to the US Dollar.
