Arson on Rarotonga - schools burn

http://www.rarolens.com - Two schools on Rarotonga were targeted by arsonists over the weekend of 19-20 October 2013. On Saturday night/Sunday morning a block containing classrooms and a science lab went up in flames at Nukutere College. The same block burned to the ground several years ago. On Sunday afternoon Avatea Primary School was set alight and the fire quickly spread to engulf an entire block containing six classrooms and the school library. Both fires were started at times when planes were on the tarmac so the airport Crash/Fire service were unable to attend. Engines and volunteers from Puaikura and Matavera fought the fires until Crash/Fire units arrived.
