València primera ciutat a provar una butaca adaptada per al bany de persones amb paràlisi cerebral

Valencia becomes the first European city to test an armchair adapted for bathing for people with cerebral palsy Valencia has taken a historic step in terms of social inclusion by becoming the first city in Europe to test an ergonomic armchair specially designed for bathing adapted for people with cerebral palsy. Cabanyal beach was the setting for this pioneering pilot test. The city's mayor, María José Catalá, presented the prototype of a seat that attaches to conventional amphibious chairs. The aim is to offer safe, stable and comfortable postural support so that people with great support needs can enjoy the sea with dignity. During the presentation, the mayor accompanied Iván, a young man with cerebral palsy, who was able to enjoy his first bath in the sea in total safety. The City Council has promoted this project with a grant of 7,000 euros to the AVAPACE association, in collaboration with the Valencia Orthopedic Center and the Kaldevi company. The aim is to respond to a real need for many people with high dependency. The association points out that the measure seeks to facilitate bathing and improve the quality of life of users. The new features on the Valencian coast also include the extension of the bathing assistance service for 30 more days. The main points, located in Malvarrosa, El Cabanyal and Pinedo, will be active until September 15, from 11:00 to 19:00. In addition, in El Saler and El Perellonet the service will operate by appointment. These facilities have walkways, changing rooms, cranes and Red Cross personnel, and last year they registered nearly 5,800 uses. Last year, the city council allocated nearly 11 million euros to accessibility policies, consolidating Valencia as a European benchmark in inclusion and universal accessibility, with the creation of the General Directorate of People with Disabilities and seven municipal offices.
