RMS AQUITANIA: The Ship Beautiful (1914)
When the Cunard Line needed a third ship for their express service they looked to White Star's new flagship, the RMS OLYMPIC, for inspiration. Instead of a speed queen the AQUITANIA was to be large and luxurious. The Blue Riband would remain with the MAURETANIA. Cunard's "better OLYMPIC" was an extremely popular ship. Her interior decor earned her the superlative "Ship Beautiful." Yet even she was finally scrapped in 1950. Despite the great distance time has created the reputation of the RMS AQUITANIA remains undiminished. Many still consider her the most beautiful of the Edwardian liners. / iluvcamaros
