Much has already been said by other psychologists about no contact and gray rock. But I see a need to add the "Parrot" technique to this list as another option for communicating with a narcissist. So, we have three techniques: No contact, when you completely and irrevocably cut off communication, blocking all possible access of this person into your life and your circle, as if they never existed. The Gray Rock technique is when you minimize communication and make it as dry and devoid of any information as possible. And the Parrot technique is when you essentially imitate Pavlov and instill a conditioned reflex in the narcissist. You communicate normally with the narcissist when they're in control, and turn into a stubborn but very polite parrot when they get their way.
