The BEST Wildlife Day in Yellowstone | Lamar Valley, Mammoth Hot Springs & Norris Geyser Basin

Welcome back to Day 5 of our Grand Teton & Yellowstone road trip! 🚗🏕️ Today was hands down one of the best wildlife days of our Yellowstone adventure. We started the morning waking up to a herd of pronghorns outside our glamping tent before exploring some of Yellowstone’s most fascinating geothermal areas. From the world’s tallest active geyser at Norris Geyser Basin to the incredible white travertine terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs, every stop felt like we had landed on another planet. The highlight of the day, though, was spending nearly 3 hours in Lamar Valley, often called the “Serengeti of North America.” We watched herds of bison grazing beneath the mountains, witnessed a rare coyote hunt, and ended the evening by spotting two black bears in the wild. If you’re planning a Yellowstone trip, this vlog will help you plan an unforgettable second day in the park. ⸻ 📍 Day 5 Itinerary 7:00 AM – Wake up to pronghorns at our glamping site 8:00 AM – Breakfast & Tesla charging 9:00 AM – Enter Yellowstone Wildlife stops Wild ducks American bison 11:00 AM – Gibbon Falls Scenic overlook Optional hiking trail 12:00 AM – 3:00 PM – Norris Geyser Basin Steamboat Geyser Porcelain Basin Back Basin Emerald Spring Cistern Spring Echinus Geyser Green Dragon Spring Living Thermometer Ledge Geyser Porkchop Geyser 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM – Mammoth Hot Springs Liberty Cap Palette Spring Minerva Terrace Canary Spring Orange Spring Mound Angel Terrace White Elephant Back Terrace Lookout Point 6:00 PM – Scenic drive to Lamar Valley 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM – Wildlife watching in Lamar Valley Coyotes Pronghorn American bison Mule deer Two black bears 10:00 PM – Dinner & return to our glamping site ⸻ 🦬 Wildlife We Spotted • Pronghorns • American Bisons - idk a million?? • Wild Ducks • Mule Deer • Coyotes • Black Bears (2) ⸻ 💡 Yellowstone Travel Tips ✔️ Start early for the best wildlife sightings. ✔️ Wear a hat, sunscreen, and carry plenty of water—Norris Geyser Basin has very little shade. ✔️ Keep a safe distance from wildlife: 25 yards (23 m) from bison, elk, and deer. 100 yards (91 m) from bears and wolves. ✔️ Stay on the boardwalks around geothermal areas—they’re there to protect both you and the fragile landscape. ⸻ 🚗 Our Road Trip Starting Point: San Francisco, California States Covered: California → Nevada → Utah → Idaho → Wyoming → Montana Camping Setup: Tesla Camping + Glamping If you enjoyed this vlog, don’t forget to Like, Comment & Subscribe! ❤️ Tomorrow is our final day in Yellowstone National Park before we begin the long drive back to San Francisco.
