East Coast Deltic! 55022 Royal Scots Grey Lynemouth to North Blyth Freight

In 2011 preserved English Electric Deltic locomotive number 55022 Royal Scots Grey was hired, due to a shortage of motive power, to haul aluminium ore trains between North Blyth harbour and Alcan's aluminium works at Lynemouth. It isn't common for deltics, -a design of locomotive more suited to express passenger work, to be seen operating on freight trains, -and especially not in coastal locations in Northumberland. What a sight! -Seeing a 50 year old Deltic locomotive at the seaside! :) The loco is seen on 19th April 2011 running between Lynemouth and North Blyth with empties -and upon arrival at North Blyth where the locomotive shunts the rakes of alumina hoppers around...
