JAKARTA, KOMPASTV - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has formed a special team to handle allegations of corruption and money laundering (TPPU) involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriyansah, has drawn scrutiny. Former KPK Commissioner from 2015-2019, Saut Situmorang, believes the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) should take over the case. According to him, the KPK has the authority, as stipulated in Article 10A of the KPK Law, to intervene in the case process. "According to Article 10A, the requirements for taking over are met because there was interference. That's why I said from the start that the KPK must take over this case because it meets the requirements," said Saut. (TIMECODE 15:55). He believes that the KPK's supervision through the online Notice of Commencement of Investigation (SPDP) system is insufficient. Meanwhile, Tarumanagara University Criminal Law Expert Hery Firmansyah assessed that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) holds a strategic position as a mediator in enforcing corruption laws. "This mediatory role in enforcing corruption laws can actually be exercised by the KPK because, in addition to the police and the prosecutor's office, the KPK also carries out corruption investigations," he said. (timcode 14:27). Hery hopes the KPK will not only issue statements but also demonstrate concrete steps in overseeing the case handling process. "Hopefully, the KPK will then emerge and provide not just statements, but also concrete actions in this process. At the very least, they will seriously oversee this process properly," said Hery.
