Mechwar Bel Wadi: Aarbaniyeh, Knayseh & Ksaybeh. Souvenirs of My Childhood. Pines, Stories, Food مشوار بالوادي: العربانية، الكنيسة، والقصيبة. ذكريات طفولتي. أشجار الصنوبر، القصص، الطعام . Our day began with a traditional breakfast in Aarbaniyeh, followed by a stroll through the village with Director Gino Aoun, where we learned more about the traditional Lebanese serwal and its place in local heritage. We then visited two beautiful churches: Mar Takla and Saydet Al Antikal Along the way, we discovered part of Lebanon’s historic Silk Valley, a reminder of the region’s rich cultural and economic past. In Knayseh, we visited Mar Elias and Mar Antonios Church We were warmly welcomed by the Mokhtar and enjoyed a hike through the village with the Mayor and André, discovering its landscapes and stories. Our journey continued to Ksaybeh, where we explored: Kharroub Mill, one of the oldest mills in Lebanon Then Saydet Church (Maronite) and Mar Gerges Church (Orthodox) A day filled with history, faith, traditions, nature, and encounters with the people who keep these villages alive. We ended our day with a delightful lunch at Little Red, reflecting on another beautiful journey through the valleys of Lebanon. . Kneisseh (also spelled Knaisseh or El Kneïssé) is a historic, picturesque mountain village located in the Baabda District of the Mount Lebanon Governorate, roughly 22 kilometers east of Beirut. Geographically and culturally tied closely to the Upper Metn region, the village sits at an elevation of approximately 650 meters (2,130 feet) along a mountain ridge. It is highly celebrated for its traditional architecture, dense pine forests, and strategic historical layout. . The village's name comes from the Syriac word "Knisheh," which translates to "assemblies" or gathered settlements. Kneisseh is uniquely structured around a central, historic stone staircase that climbs from the main village square to its upper neighborhoods. This dense, fortified design historically helped the community repel outside assaults. Today, it preserves a distinct, ancient charm featuring narrow winding pathways, old stone walls, and traditional Lebanese red-tiled houses. . . Welcome to my food and travel channel.
