First Impressions of Türkiye 🇹🇷 – Istanbul Shocked Us!

Our adventure in Turkey begins in the vibrant city of Istanbul—and what a first day it was. We hit the ground running with our first Turkish kebab, wandered the streets of this incredible city, and visited two of its most iconic landmarks: the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. We explored a massive local bazaar packed with everything from spices to souvenirs, tried to catch a Beşiktaş football game (so close!), and ended the day with a stunning sunset over the Bosphorus, looking across to the Asian side of the city. One of the highlights was discovering Nevmekan Sahil—a beautiful library café on the Üsküdar side with an amazing atmosphere, affordable food, and some of the best tea we’ve had in Turkey. It’s the perfect place to unwind after exploring. This was the perfect introduction to Turkey and an unforgettable start to our next chapter of backpacking.
