The Südwandhütte is a scenic hiking destination located at around 1,910 meters, directly below the mighty south face of the Dachstein. With its large terrace and spectacular alpine views, it is one of the most beautiful places to enjoy the dramatic mountain scenery of this region. The hike starts near the Dachstein Glacier Cable Car station and follows a rocky but stable path below the cable car route. Even in summer, a small snowfield has to be crossed along the way, which makes this short hike even more special. After about 40 minutes of walking, you reach the beautiful Südwandhütte. Along the entire route, you are surrounded by impressive mountain views, rocky alpine landscapes and the powerful scenery of the Dachstein.
