How to Find the Reactions at the Supports – Static Equilibrium of Rigid Bodies – Reaction Problem 3

In this video, we find the reactions at the supports for the element/member/system/beam shown due to the applied forces. This problem is solved using static equilibrium of rigid bodies and the property that all forces, internal and external, must cancel and counteract each other so all forces sum to be zero, including reactions at supports. The gross weight of the car and its load is 5500 lb, and it is applied at a point 30 in from the track, halfway between the two axles. The car is held by a cable attached 24 in from the track. Determine the tension in the cable and the reaction at each pair of wheels.
