116 Street East Harlem Festival, Puerto Rican Day Parade June 13, 2026

The event happening on Saturday, June 13, 2026, is actually the 41st Annual 116th Street Festival in East Harlem (El Barrio).  While it is frequently associated with the massive National Puerto Rican Day Parade, the parade itself takes place the following day (Sunday, June 14) on Fifth Avenue. The 116th Street Festival serves as the ultimate, energy-fueled prelude—transforming East Harlem into the largest Latin street festival in the Northeast.  The Atmosphere & Scale The festival spans a massive 20-block radius in Manhattan, primarily taking over:  Third Avenue between East 106th and East 122nd Street.  East 116th Street from Second Avenue to Lexington Avenue.  Originally started in 1985 as a grassroots community event called Abrazo Fraternal ("Fraternal Embrace"), it has grown into a roaring celebration of Puerto Rican and Hispanic heritage. The streets are a sea of red, white, and blue Puerto Rican flags, with thousands of people dancing, singing, and gathering in a massive communal block party.  Food, Music, & Cultural Highlights The Food: The air is thick with the incredible aromas of traditional Caribbean and Puerto Rican street food. Vendors line the pavement cooking up pernil (roast pork), mofongo (mashed plantains), tostones (fried plantain slices), alcapurrias, and empanadillas.   Three Live Stages: The festival features three major performance stages blasting salsa, reggaeton, Latin trap, and bomba drums. The 2026 performance lineup features prominent names like Brenda K. Starr, Tito Puente Jr., Sean Paul, Kat DeLuna, Alfredo de la Fe, and Luis Damon.  Immersive Activations: Beyond food and music, the corridor is packed with corporate sponsor experiences, local merchants selling artisan goods, community art displays, and non-profit organizations sharing neighborhood resources.  It runs from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, is entirely free to attend, and sets the stage for the official parade the next morning.
