Game 2 starters, Steve Trachsel (7-5) for the Mets and Jose Contreras (4-3) for the Yankees. Derek Jeter hits 2 solo Homeruns off Trachsel in the 1st and the 3rd while Yankees RF Hideki Matsui with 4 RBIs on the day including a 3-run HR in the 8th (off Mets reliever Mike Stanton). Jose Contreras with the win, pitching 6 solid innings giving up no runs on only two Mets hits. Yankee reliever Tom Gordon picks up his 2nd save of the season coming in the 8th inning, with no runs and no hits striking out four.
