The game features nine bowlers; Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa (later revealed to be Kang in disguise), Mr. Burns, Apu, Krusty the Clown, Groundskeeper Willie, and Abe (Grandpa) Simpson. Each bowler has different strengths and weaknesses. All of the characters' uniforms were taken from 'The Simpsons' episode entitled 'Team Homer'. Before each throw, players set the curve, position the bowler, and then use the trackball to control the ball's speed and direction by rolling it forward with the right timing and force. A button press or specific trackball action releases the ball. The game offers Standard and Spares modes, along with Normal or Easy control options. Cartoonish character banter and commentary play between turns, adding humor drawn from the series. Achieving a turkey (three consecutive strikes) grants a special ball on the next throw, varying by character. These include a flaming fireball, a nuclear waste ball, a bomb that explodes on impact, or even launching Maggie Simpson down the lane. The trackball serves as the primary input for aiming, power, and release, creating a direct but sometimes awkward feel for simulating the bowling motion.
