Brazil will gain a new television channel focused exclusively on economics, business, and the financial market. On November 17th, CNBC Brasil, the national version of one of the world's most influential economic journalism brands, will officially debut. After the arrival of CNN Brasil and the consolidation of Jovem Pan News, the news market gains a new and powerful competitor — with a different and highly specialized approach. CNBC (Consumer News and Business Channel) is part of the NBCUniversal group, one of the largest media conglomerates on the planet, responsible for brands such as NBC, MSNBC, and Universal Pictures. Founded in 1989, CNBC has become a global reference in coverage of financial markets, international economics, investments, monetary policy, and large corporations. Unlike mainstream channels, its focus has always been on a more qualified audience, interested in economic decisions and real business impacts. The Brazilian version arrives with an ambitious project. It will have approximately 350 professionals, support from 25 international newsrooms spread across more than 80 countries, and programming that blends global content with local production. The channel is already launching with a rare achievement in the market: 23 confirmed advertising brands even before its premiere, including sponsors and supporters, something uncommon for new television channels. The cast includes well-known names from the Brazilian audience, reinforcing the commitment to credibility and reach, such as Zeca Camargo, Cristiane Pelajo, Carol Barcellos, Marcelo Torres, and Fábio Turci, as well as businesspeople and experts like Camila Farani, Walter Longo, and Marcos Buaiz. The project is led by journalist Douglas Tavolaro, also responsible for the creation of CNN Brasil, now heading the operation through Times Brasil, in partnership with NBCUniversal and Attention Economics of the United Kingdom. CNBC Brazil will have a multiplatform strategy, broadcasting on digital open TV, pay-TV operators, streaming, and a strong presence on YouTube, both live and on-demand. The programming will feature 15 hours of daily live journalism, focused on economics, investments, business, innovation, and the global market. The arrival of CNBC has already provoked immediate reactions from the competition. Just days before its debut, CNN Brazil launched CNN Money, its channel dedicated exclusively to business, demonstrating that the battle for the economic audience is only beginning. It remains to be seen whether the strength of the global brand, the technical content, and the digital strategy will be enough to gain space in a competitive and demanding market like Brazil. CNBC Brazil arrives with great expectations—but its success will depend on its ability to deliver relevance, credibility, and audience in the long term.
