With so many restaurants getting talked about online, on social media, and by word of mouth, I wanted to find out which spots actually delivered when it came time to eat. These are not just popular places — these are the meals that made me stop, pause, and say “Yeah… that one’s special.” In this video, I travel around Metro Detroit and Downriver checking out some of the most talked-about food spots of the year, including classic Detroit burger joints, authentic taco spots, comfort food favorites, and one of the most requested chicken sandwiches in the city. Here’s where I went: 🍔 Motz – Detroit I kick things off with one of the most iconic burgers in the city: the Motz double cheeseburger. Known for their sliders and old-school Detroit burger style, Motz has been a staple for years, and this double cheese shows exactly why people keep coming back. 🌮 Tacos Veloz – Detroit Next, I stop at Tacos Veloz for their famous al pastor tacos. If you’re looking for some of the best tacos in Detroit, this spot always ends up in the conversation. Juicy pork, pineapple, fresh cilantro and onion — this one absolutely delivered. 🍔 Sonny’s – Detroit Then it’s on to Sonny’s, another Detroit classic, for their double cheeseburger. This place has serious history, and the burger still holds up today. Simple, greasy, comforting, and exactly what you want from a Detroit burger. 🇵🇱 Sabina’s – Melvindale After that, I head downriver to Sabina’s in Melvindale for a full Polish plate. This is the kind of comfort food that hits different — kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, pierogi, potatoes, and more. If you’ve never had Polish food in Metro Detroit, this is one of the best places to start. 🍗 Crunch World Famous Chicken – Detroit To wrap up the main list, I stop at Crunch World Famous Chicken in Detroit for their chicken sandwich. This one gets talked about constantly, and I wanted to see if it truly deserved the hype. Crispy, juicy, seasoned right, and one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had all year. And because it wouldn’t be a Detroit Food Review video without something sweet… 🍪🍩 Elliott’s Bakery – Trenton Back at home, I finish things off with a dessert review featuring cookies and donuts from Elliott’s Bakery in Trenton. Local bakeries are one of the most underrated parts of Metro Detroit’s food scene, and Elliott’s absolutely brought it with these classic baked goods.
