The Shroud of Turin is considered the most studied archaeological object in history and, at the same time, the greatest scientific enigma of our time. This funerary linen cloth depicts a man who suffered torture exactly as described in the Gospels concerning Jesus of Nazareth, with details that science has yet to explain or replicate. On the radio program 'Herrera en COPE,' forensic pathologist and vice president of the Spanish Center for Sindonology, Alfonso Sánchez Hermosilla, analyzes the anatomy of the man on the shroud. Sánchez Hermosilla details that the marks reveal a brutal flogging with a flagrum taxillatum, the use of a thorny helmet, and crucifixion performed with nails through the wrists to prevent tearing. He also explains that the cause of death was a combination of asphyxiation, kidney failure, and physical exhaustion.
