Elohim, Jehovah, and Michael: The "Creation Presidency" in Temple Theology (JST 85)

What if the creation story points to a governing order—Elohim, Jehovah, and Michael (Adam)—in a way most of us have never fully examined? In this presentation we compare four creation accounts (Genesis, Moses, Abraham, and the Temple Endowment revelation) and ask what Joseph Smith and Brigham Young may have been teaching about the Creation Council and a planetary governing quorum. Sometimes doctrine gets simplified for teaching—but what do we lose when such modifications happen? Using an “algebra vs. arithmetic” comparison, we explore how shifts in emphasis about Jehovah, Elohim, and the Godhead can change the way we interpret scripture and understand exaltation. We discuss why names and titles matter, why Joseph Smith treated these questions as vital (especially in the King Follett discourse), and why knowing who God is, isn’t just an academic exercise—it’s foundational for exaltation.
