We Messed Up, and We're Truly Sorry | PJ & Thomas

In last week’s video, there was an insensitive scene portraying a caricature of Asian people with exaggerated stereotypical traits that was wrong and harmful. Many in the AAPI are facing racists attacks right now and the last thing we would ever want is to contribute to someone's pain in any way. We are so incredibly sorry for the harm we caused those who watched it. We never want anyone watching our videos to feel hurt, attacked, or targeted. Right now, hate crimes are rising against Asian Americans and have been over the last year, with many white supremacists referring to covid as the “China virus” and the previous administration’s failure to actively denounce white supremacy. White fragility is real and it is a problem many people fail to acknowledge or do anything about. The very least someone can do is admit they made a mistake (as we all do), and take active steps to better themselves and do their part to help combat racism. We should all be working every day to face racism head on and have the difficult conversations, speak out against racial injustice, and be an ally to those facing racist persecution. If you would like to discuss this more, share a story, give ways to help, or just talk, please email us at [email protected]. If you are looking for more ways to get involved in stopping Asian hate, we have included links below to resources for donating money, getting involved in your community, how to talk someone who is saying racially offensive remarks, and more. We have re-cut and addressed last week's vlog in today's video. Thank you so much for being here and for holding us (and others) accountable. We still have so much to learn and are committed to forever educating ourselves in order to help make the world a more safe, loving, and accepting place.
