The Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade were pleased to welcome Joanne Meagher with a historical presentation on the early days of the Merrick Family and their legacy Coral Gables home. Joanne answered our burning questions about the family of George Merrick and provided examples of how they were so ahead of their time and yet had to step back in time when they moved here from Massachusetts in 1899. She shared tales of her favorite characters in the Merrick story (and they aren’t all humans) and provide fun facts about Coral Gables history to be shared around the water cooler.
