What I Wish I Had Known About Becoming a CPA

Here is what I wish I had known about public accounting in 1984. That was the year I graduated from the University of Georgia, ready to conquer the world. What I did not realize--at the time--was accounting knowledge, by itself, will not make you successful. You need wisdom. And how do you obtain wisdom? Making mistakes. Or listening to someone that has already been there. Here is my story, complete with the mistakes I've made, so you won't do the same. 00:00 Introduction to job landmines 01:30 First job - Did not fit the culture 04:15 Second job - Worked for too many partners 06:03 Third job - Broken promises 11:51 Fourth job - Stress of starting a firm 15:10 Fifth job - Wife not happy with the town 17:08 Sixth job - Finally a job that fits! #CPAHallTalk
