Jackson's Chameleon facts: the three horned chameleon | Animal Fact Files

The Jackson's chameleon could be called a tree triceratops. Well, the males could anyway. Male Jackson's chameleons sport three large horns on their heads giving them a similar appearance to the now extinct triceratops. Females usually have teeny horn-like structures or nothing at all, so these animals are highly sexually dimorphic. Jackson's chameleons are typically green in color and may sport bright stripes of yellow. The males will use their horns to try and push each other off of branches; and, considering they may be more than 32.8 feet (10m) off the ground, a fall from this height can cause some serious damage. Thankfully, Jackson's chameleons have their grippy toes and prehensile tails to help them hang on!
