The Joy of Being Trans | Felix Lane | TEDxLSE

Being trans can be difficult, but almost all the problems trans people face come from external sources. What about trans happiness? This talk aims to shift the focus for a moment; away from the negative media attention, the constant debates about trans people's existence, and share some of the good things about being trans, and how it can bring deep and profound joy to your life. Felix Lane (he/him) is the Trans Advocacy Manager at Stonewall, which campaigns for a world where all LGBTQ+ people are free to be themselves and can live their lives to the full. His current work focuses on policy that impacts trans people, as well as managing TRANSforming Futures, a collaboration with 9 partner organisations and funded by the NLCF, which aims to create lasting change for trans communities in England. Prior to joining Stonewall, he spent 11 years as Co-Director of Open Barbers; a hairdressing salon and community space in Hackney for queer and trans people. Felix is originally from Macclesfield, spends most weekends out in nature, and is a big fan of Agatha Christie.
