The Fógues - Ballindangan Far Away
This song features on our new album "Golden Vale". It is adapted from a poem that is well over a century old. The poem was written by a man called William Fouhy, who emigrated to New Zealand from the parish of Ballindangan. Some time later when reminiscing on his youth, he wrote the poem "Ballindangan Far Away", and sent it home. We recently came across the poem which had been carefully preserved and passed down through the community. We put an air to the original poem, and also wrote a new chorus to go with it. #irishmusic #irishdiaspora #ireland
