Beyond Memory: Immersive Encounters with Greek Difficult Past by AGIATI BENARDOU
Agiatis Benardou is President of the Board of Directors at DARIAH-ERIC. This talk - Beyond Memory: Immersive Encounters with Greek Difficult Past - explores how VR and immersive storytelling reshape the ways we engage with difficult heritage in Europe. Drawing on the Block 15 project (of the Haidari, Athens Nazi concentration camp), it examines how immersion enables new forms of access and interpretation. It reflects on the methodological and ethical challenges of translating traumatic and contested histories into immersive experiences, and the role of VR in mediating collective memory.
