Remixing "The Old General"

Playback of the remix begins at 1:00:50. Comments under recent videos have reinforced to me that there are, in fact, “it-getters” out there upon whom a long-form workflow video might not be lost. In fact, there might even be a few who, like me, still enjoy such content, free of jumpcuts, paced like real human expression, and focused on reality. So I decided to make this video documenting my remix of this song, and to do so with no script, no planning aside from having a general idea of what I was setting out to accomplish. Heartfelt thanks to you guys who have been kind enough to pay attention and to respond with comments demonstrating that you actually did so. In the course of ginning myself up to do this, I realized that I have been depressed. Because that condition, being depressed, is not something that I pay much mind to anymore, it hadn't really dawned on me that I was. I'm only 54 years of age, but in recent years, I have found it more and more difficult to relate to the way the collective consciousness of our species has been developing. This evolution is nowhere more apparent than in “YouTube culture”. I'm tired of gimmicks. Tired of the superficial and the inane. I would rather be alone than participate in all of that. But if there are still a few people out there who value honest and natural communication, then I will consider myself honored and blessed to have found them. And who knows, maybe if I put a little more effort into “being the change I want to see”, then I will find myself in the midst of a gathering tribe in whose company I won't feel stultified and lonely, and interacting with whom actually generates energy instead of dissipating it.
