Sailing An Optimist Downwind - 'Kiting' An Opti With Fletcher

This video is about Kiting an Opti Downwind. It's awesome fun and really fast. The trick is to be brave and sail 'by the lee'. That's when the breeze flows across your sail from the leech side, not the mast side. Sounds sketchy but it works. You will find that your Opti will sit on an angle and have less drag in the water and the rudder will stop dragging and centre too. Give it a go. Ask your parents or your coach about it.
