MARTHA WASH I'm Still Standing (True Survivor Re-Edit VIDEO)

My kindred spirit at nandlmusic Nick extended this simply marvellous track by Martha Wash: her 1996 cover of Sir Elton john's 1983 hit 'I'm Still Standing'. For me this is such a prized possession; in part as the original appears only on the First Wives Club movie soundtrack and no-one else has created a remix or re-edit of it. Nick has done a beautiful job with it and I wanted to further flesh it out by creating a video using some talented Jazz roots dancers intercut with some images of the majesterial Martha Wash. This extraordinary vocalist first came to my attention in 1983 with her then recording partner Izora Rhodes aka The Weather Girls and their classic 'It's Raining Men'. Martha has gone on to become one of the most successful dance and club recording artists; mostly as a collaborator, but also releasing tracks in her own name. Recently she collaborated with Linda Clifford and Evelyn 'Champagne' King as The First Ladies Of Disco (what a powerhouse they were). Chic's Norma Jean Wright replaced King and the three women have new material in 2019. Martha Wash is also famous for her vocals on C+C Music Factory & Black Box early 90's dance smash hits although initially uncredited. Martha Wash and her voice are forces of nature. The singer has been on the scene for more than 40 years and is indeed 'Still Standing'.
