How to Train Rotation for the Low Back (not how you think)
This is a top 3 question for me... To understand why I don't train Rotation anymore, I wanted to fully break down the structural building blocks for rotation, as it relates to the back. This is mainly an experience based breakdown, as most of my content is. There are for sure nerdy nuances that were not addressed. Some that may definitely matter! I am the first to admit that I am NOT expert, just real. I understand this may be a strange and unorthodox was to view rotation & training the "core". This goes against my years in exercise science undergrad, the years I worked at a PT clinic, and all the certs/education I gain when becoming a trainer in 2016. I only ended up at this place with my training and coaching for others out of desperation. My life was f**ked up. Riddled with chronic injuries from 2014-2021, all while I was a proud & sophisticated practitioner of kinesiology. If I didn't face these injured, I would have NEVER changed my viewpoint. I was humbled to rock bottom simply from pain and confusion. I try to lead from this place. I am not emotionally attached to my training approach. I do not care about credentials or lack thereof. I do not care about looking stupid. Or getting criticized by the experts in this field. I took what y'all said as scripture for years. I stuck to what y'all preached with blinding confidence for years. It failed me and I almost lost my life from the hopeless pain. I am not a fitness influencer, nor will I ever be. I am here to relay my path out of hell. I have no interest in the pissing contests of who's smart. The unending drama of debates that only feeds content engagement, but confuses the desperate viewer. I do not blame my past pain on anyone. However, I am also not sorry that an unqualified skinny EXS college drop out...is making the lackluster industry look bad and pissing people off. It is objectively failing. The orthopedic stats and rates or re-injury are there. I get daily messages from teenagers with horror stories of being poorly lead as a patient. I know that the criticism & self-projecting shade I get is a reflection of this battle for change. With disruption comes discomfort. I really don't mind. Again, I am NOT perfect, all-knowing, or an expert. That's the point. People are in desperate need of realness. Honesty. Care. Speaking on sh*t YOU can personally relate to.
