Torso S-4, TE OP-XY | Texture and rhythm

Recently picked up the Torso S-4 in white—the colour I wanted in the first place—and sold my black unit. Previously, I had tried to make most of the tracks on the S-4 alone, but I thought this time I would sync it to another device. The Teenage Engineering OP-XY seemed like the perfect fit, since its synths and extra rhythm played a complementary role to the S-4's strengths. I've also been spending a lot of time thinking about and playing guitar, these days. Along the way with this song, I realized it needed a stronger melody, and that was all the permission I needed to record some guitar. Here, I doubled the melody, added a drone feedback sound, and even some cowboy chords for good measure. The pedal board is shown in the video, and leveraged the Walrus Qi (for granular and reverb), the Hologram Chroma Console (for doubling/stereo slapback), and the MXR layers (for sustain on the melody line). One thing I love about using a bunch of different gear is following the paths that it leads me on. This song has a really different feel than a lot of my other music recently, and I'm not sure I would have found it without the strengths and limitations of these devices. Thanks for listening.
