Here we'll go over the stock exhaust system, giving you the information for just how to make a bit more power out of the crossplane engine, slip on options and full exhaust options available, ECU flash and tune options, and whether you need a servo eliminator and air filter. In terms of the stock exhaust system, the first thing to note is that it is in 3 pieces. The header, midpipe, and the muffler. And with the system, the way to get power gains comes from changing the header. Slip ons offer such minor gains, that we think it wouldn't even be noticeable. So, knowing that, we have to point out that there are no major reputable brands that make a header alone for the R1 & R1Ms. The options to choose from are: 1) A slip on. 2) A half exhaust system. (This is a slip on + midpipe combo, removing the cat) 3) A full exhaust system. And from the these options, the full exhaust system is where you will find the power gains.
