VATSONGA/MACHANGANI CIVIL MOVEMENT DEMANDS SAPS PROBE ALLEGED TRIBAL ATTACKS DURING 30 JUNE PROTESTS

The VAtsonga/Machangani Civil Movement has called on the South African Police Service (SAPS) to investigate allegations of tribal attacks that reportedly took place in parts of Gauteng during the nationwide anti-illegal immigration demonstrations on 30 June 2026. The organisation alleges that some people were targeted because of their ethnic identity and is urging SAPS to conduct a full investigation into the incidents. It says peaceful protest is protected under the Constitution, but any acts of violence, intimidation or tribal discrimination must be investigated and those responsible held accountable.
